Bernard Noël

Bernard Noël (born October 5, 1924 in Saint-Dizier , † September 2, 1970 in Chavanges ) was a French actor .

life and work

Bernard Noël studied at the Nancy Conservatory and in 1948 at the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique in Paris and joined the Comédie-Française , where he stayed for three years. Jean Vilar engaged him for the first festivals in Avignon. From 1947 until shortly before his death he played in 46 plays.

In the cinema he made only a few films: as the closest friend of the suicide ( Maurice Ronet ) in The will-o'-the-wisp by Louis Malle, the poet in Der Reigen by Roger Vadim , the lover of Macha Méril in A Married Woman by Jean-Luc Godard , the central heroes Stéphane in A Ball on the Bill and Adolphe in Amour by Gabriel Axel . He became famous for his big roles on television. In addition to the title role of Gaspard in Gaspard des montagnes and the series Lost Illusions , it was especially for that of Vidocq , a series in 13 episodes. After the death of Bernard Noël, Claude Brasseur took over the title role for a Les Nouvelles Aventures de Vidocq . He was the husband of actress Sylvia Saurel .

Tall and handsome and at the height of his career, he died of biliary tract cancer at the age of 45.
