content
Hector Loursat lives as a criminal defense lawyer with his daughter Nicole in a run-down house in the French provinces. Since his wife left Hector, he has been fond of alcohol and hardly worries about his daughter. One day a young man is murdered in Hector's house and he quickly finds out that his daughter may be involved in the murder. The police interrogate Nicole's friend Emile, who is a suspect. Emile asks Hector to defend him in court. With an impressive speech, Hector finally succeeds in relieving Emile.
criticism
“A socio-psychological study in the form of a crime and court film, which is characterized by its considerable socio-critical tenor. Pierre Fresnay made the comment. In 1944, after France was liberated, the film was banned. "
