Bernard Nowak

Bernard Nowak (born November 3, 1950 in Kwidzyn ) is a Polish writer , editor and editor .

Life

Nowak began teaching in Kalisz in 1968 , studied Polish studies at the Catholic University of Lublin from 1969 and at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow from 1971 , wrote his master's thesis on Faust motifs in Witold Gombrowicz's "Dziennik" . Active in the Solidarność movement from December 1, 1981 , took part in strikes in Świdnik on December 13, 1981 and published in samizdat , interrupted by a few monthly stays in Germany and France.

In 1988 he opened the TEST publishing house in Lublin, which was the first in Poland to officially publish the conversations with Jacek Trznadel "Hańba domowa: rozmowy z pisarzami". By the end of the 90s over 80 titles had been published by the publisher, including a. the bilingual German-Polish anthology " Lubliner Lift / Lubelska winda", editor Dieter Kalka . Bernard Nowak took part in the German-Polish poetry festival "wortlust" in Lublin in 1995 as a publisher. In 2015 his novel "Der Tanz der Koperwasy" was published by Engelsdorfer Verlag.

Bernard Nowak is a member of the Lublin Writers' Association SPP, of which he was president from May 2005 to June 2011. He is also a member of the Solidarność trade union.
