Bernat Pomar
Bernat Pomar i Pomar (also Bernardo Pomar Pomar ; born June 15, 1932 in Palma ; † December 15, 2011 there ) was a Spanish composer and violinist .
Life
Pomar studied at the Conservatori de Palma amb Ignasi Piña Tarongí. He was a member of the Mallorcan symphony orchestra and the city orchestra of his hometown. He composed several pieces for symphony and chamber orchestras , conducted his own orchestra and also worked as a music teacher . The violin school for children he founded is located in Manacor .
Pomar also wrote some pop music tracks in the 1960s . His hit song Paradise Of Love ( Paraíso del amor ), presented at the first Festival Internacional de la Canción de Mallorca in 1964, developed into a hit with tourists and locals and was pressed in several versions. The song was originally played by Los Javaloyas , Spain's oldest pop band, and sung and modified by various performers. The anti- bullfighting anthem Cant tris per la mort d´un bou also comes from Pomar .
More of his well-known works appeared in 2005 on the album Suite De Danses De Mallorca .
