Bernhard Fritz Peter Bönte (born December 13, 1955 ) is a German sports journalist and sports manager.

life and career

Bönte studied at the Free University of Berlin and the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , where he completed a master's degree in politics, history and German.

His first professional station was the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation , where he initially worked as an intern, then as an intern and later as a freelancer. Editorial positions at AZ Munich, Eureka TV / Pro 7 and Tele 5 followed from 1990 onwards at Sat.1 . Here he was used as a commentator and moderator in the fields of soccer , ice hockey , golf , boxing and tennis . In these sports he also worked for his subsequent employer, the pay-TV broadcaster Premiere , to which he switched in 1993.

From 2000 to 2006, Bönte was the manager of the Klitschko brothers. From 2007 he was managing director and co-owner of the Klitschko Management Group GmbH , which among other things planned and carried out the boxing events for Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko , negotiated the worldwide television contracts and was responsible for the overall marketing of the Klitschko brothers.

Bönte was voted Sports Manager of the Year 2011 by a jury from the trade journal Horizont . In 2017 he was awarded the German Boxing Award for best manager. Since November 2018, Bönte has also been working as the manager of the youth boxing Olympic champion Peter Kadiru , who competed in his first professional fight in March 2019.

From July 2014 to February 2018, Bönte was a member of the supervisory board of HSV Fußball AG .

In August 2019, Bönte founded the sports consulting company PYX Global Sports GmbH with the lawyer Heiko Hofstätter and the entrepreneur Jochen Rieger. The first athletes PYX signed included Christina Hammer , Albon Pervizaj, Peter Kadiru and Leon Bauer , among others .
