Christina Hammer (born August 16, 1990 in Nowodolinka , Kazakh SSR , Soviet Union ) is a German boxer and was multiple world champion of the WBO and WBC .

She grew up in Sontra, Hesse , and lives and trains mainly in Dortmund .

Career

Shortly after her birth, Hammer's parents moved to Germany. Hammer began boxing at the age of 13 and was trained by Robert Staar in Eschwege . At the age of 16 she became German junior champion and shortly afterwards switched to professional coach Dimitri Kirnos in Dortmund.

On September 12, 2009, Hammer made her professional boxing debut against Melisa Koktar. In 2010 she became the youngest WBO world champion against Teresa Perozzi in Riesa at the age of 20 . After her WBO title, she won the WBF title on February 18, 2011 against Diana Kiss . On May 27, 2011, she defended her WBO-WBF title against the Swede Maria Lindberg in 10 rounds. On July 26, 2014, she won the WBO light middleweight title by disqualification against Anne Sophie Mathis. Until the end of May 2016 she was under contract at Sport Events Steinforth in Magdeburg , then at Petko's Gym in Munich. On November 5, 2016, she won the title unification fight of the WBO and WBC against the American Kali Reis on points. Christina Hammer ended her collaboration with Petkos Gym in Munich in February 2017. On April 1, 2017, Christina Hammer defended her WBC title against the Swede Maria Lindberg unanimously on points in Dortmund's Westfalenhalle . This fight was the first that she organized on her own only with the support of her manager Harald Pia.

At the end of December 2017, Hammer signed a contract with the US promoter Salitas Promotion. a. guarantee several fights in the US live on Showtime .

Hammer studies sports science at the Fernuniversität Hagen and advertises as a model / testimonial for various companies.

On June 22, 2018, Christina Hammer succeeded in defending the World Cup title in the USA with her US debut in Detroit against Tori Nelson as the first German boxer since Max Schmeling in 1931.

After she won against Elene Sikmashvili by TKO in the 2nd round in February 2019 and thus remained unbeaten after 25 professional fights in her career, she was defeated by Claressa Shields on April 13, 2019 in Atlantic City in a title unification fight for the WBC World Championship , WBA , IBF and WBO.
