Bernd Niestroj

Bernd Niestroj (born July 22, 1946 in Chemnitz ; † December 5, 2008 in Magdeburg ) was a German television journalist .

Life

After completing an apprenticeship as a precision mechanic, Niestroj began studying IT. However, he broke off this after a short time in order to complete a traineeship at German television in East Berlin and become a journalist. After completing his internship, Niestroj studied at the journalism section of the Karl Marx University in Leipzig. He then returned to German television broadcasting, where he worked for decades as an editor , reporter and correspondent . For the longest time Niestroj worked for the news program Current Camera , among other things as a correspondent in Hungary and Bonn . Niestroj was one of the few GDR citizens to also travel to western countries during the Cold War on behalf of the German television broadcasting company (later television of the GDR ) .

After reunification , Niestroj founded a small production company and worked as a freelancer for the Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk, among others . After some time he has been free on MDR Landesstudio Magdeburg editor / reporter and worked for the program " Saxony-Anhalt today " and " MDR aktuell " and for the evening news of ARD . In addition to this daily work, he realized various reports and documentations as an author. His last film, “A Kingdom for Malindi”, documents the history of the black rhinoceros Malindi, who was born in Magdeburg Zoo . The report was broadcast the day before his death.
