Bernd Schlenkrich (* 1972 in Flensburg ) is a German theater manager, director and playwright .

Life

Bernd Schlenkrich was born in Flensburg in 1972. He studied theater studies , literature and philosophy at the University of Leipzig . The first productions in the independent theater scene in Leipzig were created during his studies . Schlenkrich completed assistant director at the Leipzig Theater and at the Theater in der Fabrik (TIF) in Dresden . In 2001 he became head of public relations at the Eduard-von-Winterstein-Theater in Annaberg-Buchholz , from 2002 to 2007 he worked as assistant to the artistic director, assistant director and director at the Theater der Junge Welt Leipzig. Here he staged plays a. a. by Ulf Nilsson , Felicia Zeller, Brigitte Athéa and Jutta Schubert. In 2005 he staged his first own text, the children's and youth play “From the snail who wanted to know who stole her house”, which was based on a picture book by Barbara Veit. From 2007 Schlenkrich worked as a freelance director and staged at the Theater Halle 7 in Munich , at the Württembergische Landesbühne Esslingen , at the Theater der Altmark in Stendal and at the City Theater Konstanz . In 2008 he directed the 6th Festival for New Drama "Lost & Found" in Munich. In 2009, based on a concept by Robert Steijn and Lidy Six, Schlenkrich realized the intercultural theater project "Hotel Babylon" at the Theater der Junge Welt for the second time after 2005, which in 2006 won the 'CHILDREN TO OLYMPIC! "Schools cooperate with culture" competition of the Kulturstiftung der Länder in cooperation with the Deutsche Bank Foundation . In autumn 2009 Schlenkrich founded the Dresden-Hellerau show factory together with Lutz Graf . In 2010 he was invited to the 15th drama exchange of the international theater festival for a young audience 'Luaga & Losna' in Nenzing in Austria and was then director of the young theater in Konstanz for two years. Schlenkrich was then the project manager of the transcultural youth project "WIR!" in Mannheim and artistic project manager of the stage project "OnStage" for disadvantaged young people and young refugees in Munich. In June 2014 Schlenkrich became the artistic director and managing director of the one-year-limited venue of the independent dance and theater professionals in Stuttgart OST - independent scene in the depot. In the 2016/2017 season, Schlenkrich becomes managing director at the Theater im Bauturm in Cologne .
