Bernhard Nocht Medal

The Bernhard Nocht Medal is a medal donated in 1925 by the Association of Friends of the Tropical Institute . It is awarded by the Bernhard Nocht Institute and the German Society for Tropical Medicine and International Health to a scientist or group of scientists in recognition of outstanding achievements in the field of tropical medicine .

The award was designed by the sculptor Georg Wienbrack in 1925 and is made of tombac , has a diameter of six centimeters and is not associated with prize money. The winner will be invited to a ceremony and a public lecture in Hamburg .
