Bernhard Engelbert von Beverförde zu Werries (* 1608 ; † June 12, 1690 ) was a Catholic priest, cathedral waiter and assessor of the Landespfennigkammer.

Life

Origin and family

As the son of Johann Christoph von Beverförde zu Werries († 1626) and his wife Kiliana von Brabeck zu Brabeck , Bernhard Engelbert grew up with his three sisters and three brothers - Johann Bernhard and Christoph were canons in Münster and Speyer - in the ancient Westphalian noble family von Beverförde . His brother Johann Friedrich († August 31, 1670) was the tribe and married Ida Maria von Plettenberg . She was a sister of the prince-bishop . Their son was Bernhard Engelbert Christian von Beverförde-Werries , a high official in the monastery of Münster . Her grandson Friedrich Christian was also called the "great Werries".

Career and work

After studying in Siena , Bernhard Engelbert became canon in Münster in 1626 and had received the tonsure a year earlier .

On June 1, 1635 he received the minor orders and the next day he was ordained a subdeacon . On April 3, 1645 he received the obedience of Ostenfelde and on April 18, 1650 the archdeaconate in Beckum . He was enfeoffed with the farms Wabelenhove in the parish of Ottmarsbocholt and Beckhove in the parish of Seppenrade. In 1658 he was appointed assessor of the cathedral winery. Bernhard Engelbert joined the Liebfrauen Brotherhood at St. Aegidii Church in Münster in 1658 . On November 24, 1666 he was assessor of the Pfennigkammer and was ordained diaconate on July 9, 1667. In July 1669 he became cathedral waiter and on September 28, 1685 cathedral senior. He was also a senior at the collegiate churches in Dülmen and Beckum.

He is buried in Münster Cathedral. Its epitaph is in the passage under the organ.
