Bernhard Fetz

Bernhard Fetz (born June 7, 1963 in Höchst , Vorarlberg) is an Austrian literary scholar . Since 2009 he has been director of the literature archive and since 2015 also director of the literature museum at the Austrian National Library in Vienna .

Training and activities

Bernhard Fetz graduated from the Federal High School in Bregenz . From 1981 to 1987 he studied German, journalism and Romance studies at the University of Vienna . In 1987 he completed his studies with a diploma, in 1992 he received his doctorate . From 1992 he was a lecturer at the German Institute of Charles University in Prague for three years . There he led intercultural seminars on German and foreign language literature of the 20th century at the universities of Lviv, Prague, Olomouc, Brno, Budapest, Antwerp and others. Since 1993 he has designed the festival and the exhibition Literature and Media in Public (Urban) Space ( with the participation of Elfriede Jelinek , Ferdinand Schmatz , Werner Kofler , Bodo Hell , Andreas Okopenko , Heimo Zobernig and others). From 1994 to 2001 he co-designed the annual international literature festival Literature in Vienna in March. From 1996 he was contract assistant at the Institute for German Studies at the University of Vienna.

From 1996 Fetz was a research assistant at the literature archive of the Austrian National Library, and since 2009 he has been its director. Since 2015, Fetz has also headed the Literature Museum of the Austrian National Library.
