Waleed F. Zuaiter (born January 19, 1971 in Sacramento , California ) is an American actor of Palestinian descent.

life and career

Waleed Zuaiter was born in the California capital Sacramento , but spent his childhood in Kuwait . After school, he studied philosophy and theater at George Washington University and graduated from both. After graduation, he first appeared on theatrical stages in Washington, DC and New York City in plays such as Betrayed , The American Pilot, and Mother Courage alongside Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline , before moving to Los Angeles to pursue his career.

Zuaiter has been in film and television since 2000. He had guest appearances on series such as The Unit - A Question of Honor , Numbers - The Logic of Crime , Blue Bloods - Crime Scene New York and Lie to Me . In 2011 he played the role of the terrorist Afsal Hamid in the first season of the television series Homeland . Then followed u. a. Series appearances in House of Cards , Good Wife and The Blacklist . In 2018 he appeared as Samir Abboud in a supporting role in the Netflix series Altered Carbon - The Immortality Program.

His film appearances include a. Veronica decides to die , men who stare at goats and Omar . The latter was nominated for an Oscar in 2014 in the category of Best Foreign Language Film . He himself played a central supporting role and was also involved in the film as a producer.

In 2016, Zuaiter was seen as terrorist Kamran Barkawi in London Has Fallen . This was followed by other film appearances in Between Two Lives and Billionaire Boys Club . In 2018 he took on a supporting role in the Netflix series Altered Carbon - The Immortality Program. In 2019 he portrayed the Syrian general Amin al-Hafiz in the miniseries The Spy .
