Friedrich Wilhelm Magnus von Eberhardt (born August 11, 1791 in Glatz , † October 31, 1867 in Pförten ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

The von Eberhardt family comes from an old line from Upper Lusatia and here the Küpper line. His parents were the Prussian major Friedrich Wilhelm von Eberhardt (1755–1806) and his wife Friederike Wilhelmine, née Büttner (1763–1838). His father died as commander of the 47th Infantry Regiment in the battle of Jena .

Military career

Eberhardt came to Stolp as a cadet in 1802 and was transferred to the Prussian Army on June 6, 1803 as a corporal in Infantry Regiment No. 50 . He became a Portepeefähnrich on June 20, 1805 and ensign on March 20, 1806 . In the Fourth Coalition War he was able to distinguish himself in the Battle of Jena, then took part in the battle near Nordhausen before he went into captivity at the surrender of Magdeburg.

After the war he became III on April 12, 1808. 3rd Battalion of Infantry Regiment No. 47. On March 17, 1809 he was second lieutenant in the Leib-Infanterie-Regiment with a patent from March 25, 1805. In addition, Eberhardt received the order Pour le Mérite for Jena on May 19, 1809 . From March 1810 to June 1813 he was then employed as an adjutant . In the campaign of 1812 he fought in the battles near Eckau, Wollgund, Tomoscna and Mesothen. On June 21, 1813 he was transferred to the 2nd Guards Regiment on foot as Prime Lieutenant . During the Wars of Liberation he fought in the battles near Bautzen and Dresden . His left leg was smashed in the Battle of the Nations near Leipzig . Before that, Eberhardt fought in the battles near Lindau and Weißig-Königswartha, where he received the Iron Cross II. Class, and in an outpost battle near Obergraupen in Bohemia.

On November 23, 1813 he was transferred to the cadet corps in Potsdam and promoted to staff captain on November 29, 1814. On June 8, 1815, he was promoted to captain and on February 18, 1822 to major . He also received the service cross on July 14, 1825 . On November 3, 1826 he was appointed director of the cadet institute. On January 18, 1833 he received the Order of the Red Eagle IV class for his achievements . On June 1, 1836, he became the commander of the cadet institute. On March 30, 1838 he became a lieutenant colonel with a patent on April 1, 1838, on March 30, 1840 colonel with a patent on April 1, 1840 and on June 18, 1846 major general . On July 16, 1846, he was given 300 thalers as a gift. On April 4, 1850 Eberhardt got under presentation of the character as a lieutenant general with board his farewell . On May 19, 1859, he received the star for the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves. He died on October 31, 1867 on Pförten (Sorau district). In Potsdam he became a member of the Masonic Lodge Teutonia for Wisdom .

Eberhardt married on September 13, 1815 on Wissulke ( Deutsch-Krone district ) Henriette Karoline Wilhelmine Plümick (e) (1792-1880). The couple had the following children:
