Bernhard I, Prince of Anhalt-Bernburg (* 1218 ; † 1287 ) was a ruling Anhalt sovereign from the Ascanian dynasty .
Life
Bernhard was the second son of Prince Heinrich von Anhalt and his wife Irmgard, daughter of Landgrave Hermann von Thuringia .
After the death of his father in 1252, his three sons divided the land among themselves. Bernhard received Anhalt-Bernburg .
Marriage and offspring
On February 3, 1258, Bernhard married Princess Sophie (1240–1284), daughter of Abel, King of Denmark in Hamburg .
The marriage had the following children:
- Johann I († June 5, 1291) - Prince of Anhalt-Bernburg (together with Bernhard II.)
- Albrecht I of Anhalt († September 14, 1324) - Bishop of Halberstadt
- Bernhard II. (* Around 1260, † after December 26, 1323) - Prince of Anhalt-Bernburg
- Heinrich († March 14, 1324) - Prior of the Dominican monastery of St. Katharinen in Halberstadt
- Rudolph
- Sophie († after May 15, 1322) - married to Count Dietrich II von Honstein before February 28, 1282
