Bernhard I, Prince of Anhalt-Bernburg (* 1218 ; † 1287 ) was a ruling Anhalt sovereign from the Ascanian dynasty .

Life

Bernhard was the second son of Prince Heinrich von Anhalt and his wife Irmgard, daughter of Landgrave Hermann von Thuringia .

After the death of his father in 1252, his three sons divided the land among themselves. Bernhard received Anhalt-Bernburg .

Marriage and offspring

On February 3, 1258, Bernhard married Princess Sophie (1240–1284), daughter of Abel, King of Denmark in Hamburg .
