Franz Schoser

Franz Schoser (* 27. July 1933 in Trochtelfingen ) is a German former official of the association of the economy . From 2006 to 2011 he was a member of the German National Regulatory Control Council .

Life and work

Franz Schoser studied economics at the universities of Tübingen , Vienna and Cologne from 1952 to 1959 . In 1956 he obtained his degree in business administration, and in 1959 he received his doctorate in political science and economics under Alfred Müller-Armack .

From 1957 to 1973 Schoser worked for the Cologne Chamber of Commerce and Industry . From 1973 to 2002 he worked for the German Industry and Trade Day (from 2000 DIHK). From 1980 he became DIHT general manager. In the era of Federal Chancellor Helmut Kohl , Schoser was considered the most influential association official. The DIHT moved to Berlin under Schoser. In the last few years of his tenure, Franz Schoser campaigned for the association to be modernized. From 2006 to 2011 Schoser was a member of the National Regulatory Control Council . On September 21, 2011 he resigned from this office.

The CDU member Schoser works on a voluntary basis primarily in the field of European politics. Franz Schoser is treasurer of the Institute for European Politics and a member of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation , of which he was treasurer from 2002 to 2018. He was also treasurer of the Europa-Union Deutschland and, from 2004 to 2011, of the European Movement Germany network .

Franz Schoser is also President of the Society for Transnational Cooperation , the SES Senior Expert Service , the Friends' Association of the Institute for Economic Policy at the University of Cologne and the Otto Wolff Foundation . For many years he was chairman of the board of directors of Deutsche Welle and the ZNS - Hannelore Kohl Foundation .

Schoser is married and has four children. Martin Schoser is his son.

Awards

Franz Schoser received the Grand Cross of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and is an officer in the French Legion of Honor . He is the holder of the Medal of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg and in 2016 he was awarded the Medal of Merit of the Social Market Economy Action Group in memory of Alfred Müller-Armack .
