Bernhard Kramer

Bernhard Kramer (* 1942 in Naumburg (Hesse) ) is a German physicist . He is Vice President of Jacobs University Bremen .

Life

Bernhard Kramer studied physics at the University of Marburg from 1962 to 1966 and received his doctorate in 1967 under Professor Dr. Otfried Madelung . In 1974 he completed his habilitation in theoretical physics at the University of Dortmund .

Bernhard Kramer was an assistant at the Institute for Physics at the University of Dortmund from 1971 to 1974 . Between 1974 and 1990 he was a private lecturer and from 1974 to 1977 assistant professor at the University of Dortmund.

From 1977 to 1978 Kramer was acting head of the chair for theoretical physics at the University of Essen . Between 1978 and 1993 he was director and professor for theoretical foundations at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt in Braunschweig. From 1990 to 1993 Kramer was an associate professor at the University of Dortmund. Between 1993 and 2005 he was a full professor for theoretical physics at the University of Hamburg . Since October 2005 Vice President and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Jacobs University Bremen .

In addition to his teaching activities, he is / was also involved in the editing of various publications: Europhysics Letters (1992–1997), Physics in our time (1993–2001), European Physical Journal (1997–2004), Advances in Solid State Physics (1997– 2005) and Annalen der Physik (since 1997).

Bernhard Kramer has been a member of the German Physical Society since 1969 .
