Bernhard Schneeberger

Bernhard Maria Heinrich Schneeberger (born September 19, 1945 in Speyer ; † May 5, 2015 in Münster ) was a German musicologist , businessman and founder of Agenda Verlag in Münster.

Life

Bernhard Schneeberger was the third of four children. He grew up in Speyer in the Palatinate and went to school there. Later, his father moved the family because of the appeal Josef Schneeberger to the provincial government in the administrative district of Münster in the city of Münster. Bernhard Schneeberger visited the Paulinum there and passed his Abitur. He then studied law, history and musicology. In 1991 he received his doctorate from the Westphalian Wilhelms University with the two-part work The Fürstenau family of musicians : Investigations into life and work .

In 1992 he founded Agenda Verlag, which was considered his life's work. In 2007 he founded the Schneeberger Gallery in Münster and devoted himself to modern art. The gallery is part of agenda Verlag GmbH & Co. KG . He was chairman of the German Society for Westphalian Music and Music History.

Bernhard Schneeberger was also active in teaching. For example, he taught at the Academy for Early Music in Baden-Württemberg, formerly the Dresden Academy for Early Music.

He died after a serious illness at the age of 69. Since his death, his wife Marlies has been the owner of the publishing house and his son Michael Schneeberger continues as managing director.

Since 1968 he was a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Winfridia (Breslau) Münster .
