Bernhard Sinogowitz

Bernhard Sinogowitz (born June 22, 1921 in Naumburg (Saale) , † October 14, 2006 ) was a German lawyer and librarian .

Life

He studied from 1940 Byzantine at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and in 1944 with a thesis on the Western policy of the Greek world of states at the time of the Latin Empire doctorate . From 1947 he studied, also in Munich, jurisprudence . In 1950 he began training as a library trainee at the Bavarian State Library , which he completed in 1952. In the same year he obtained his second doctorate with a thesis Studies on the Criminal Law of the Eclogue .

From 1958 he worked at the university library of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and was appointed director in 1966. From 1959 to 1981 he was also head of the Ansbach State Library . In 1986 he retired. He donated his important private collection of Byzantine coins to the university after 1987.

In the Association of German Librarians he was a member of the advisory board from 1961 to 1965 and deputy chairman from 1968 to 1971, and from 1970 to 1973 deputy chairman of the Bavarian regional association. From 1954 to 1970 and from 1981 to 1986 he was a member of the Legal Affairs Commission. He prepared several reports on the subjects of legal deposit law and copyright law .

Under his chairmanship, a committee of the German Library Association drew up a draft version of the inter-library loan system for interlibrary lending in German libraries, which was presented in 1977 and passed in 1979 . Under the title Leihverkehrs-Fibel , he wrote a practical guide in 1980, the second edition of which appeared in 1983 ( ISBN 3-598-21126-0 ).
