Life
Slovsa entered the Parakeet Monastery in 1940 , to which he could not return after the Second World War , which he had participated in as a soldier. In 1946 he came to the Cistercian monastery of Stams in Tyrol, was ordained a priest in 1947 after studying theology and received his doctorate in theology from the University of Salzburg in the following year . From 1958 to 1967 he headed the boarding school attached to the Meinhardinum Stiftsgymnasium , and from 1960 to 1981 also the Aufbaaurealgymnasium. He significantly expanded both institutes, even after he was elected Administrator in 1970 and Abbot in 1973. During his tenure, the entire monastery complex was completely renovated, including the collegiate church, which was elevated to a minor basilica in 1984 . Slovsa resigned from office in 1985 and died in 1999.
