Bernhard Stamm (born November 24, 1920 in Thayngen ; † March 1, 2007 , reformed , resident in Thayngen) was a Swiss politician (FDP) .

biography

Bernhard Stamm, son of the farmer , mayor and chief judge Johann Martin Stamm and Anna née Keller, high school graduate at the Schaffhauser Gymnasium, graduate of the teachers' seminar in Schaffhausen , taught as a primary school teacher from 1945 to 1947 in Hemishofen , then until 1960 in Thayngen.

Bernhard Stamm - he married Hedi, the daughter of master butcher Fritz Burkhalter - in 1949 - died on March 1, 2007 at the age of 86 in Thayngen.

Political career

Bernhard Stamm - he joined the FDP in 1948 - served as a resident councilor from 1949 to 1956 and from 1957, after he had prevailed in a tough election, until 1970 as mayor of Thayngen.

On January 1, 1961, Stamm was elected to the Grand Council and, in 1965, delegated to the State Economic Commission. In March 1967 Stamm became Chief Justice, which led to his resignation from Parliament on June 30, 1967. In 1970 Stamm was elected to the Schaffhausen government council , where he was then responsible for education, the military and, until 1974, also the business administration. In 1984, Stamm resigned as a councilor.

As mayor, Bernhard Stamm shaped the change Thayng from a farming village to an industrial community. As a government councilor, he initiated important reforms in the educational system, including the total revision of the 1925 School Act in 1982.
