Bernhard Steinert

Bernhard Steinert (born August 12, 1912 in Schluchsee , Baden-Württemberg ; † August 15, 1994 in St. Blasien , Baden-Württemberg) was a German author , composer and local historian.

Life

Bernhard Steinert graduated from the Berthold-Gymnasium in Freiburg im Breisgau in 1933 . He received training in composition and organ playing from Franz Philipp . In 1937 he came to St. Blasien as an employee of the district savings bank. For the millennium of the city of St. Blasien he wrote Ein Gottestag , a game by monks and farmers that was performed in front of the cathedral in St. Blasien in the summer of 1946. In 1966 Steinert became the managing director and chairman of the board of the St. Blasien district savings bank. In 1977 the city of St. Blasien made him an honorary citizen . During this time his historical work St. Blasier Land was created , a representation of St. Blasier's history since secularization . In addition, Steinert wrote several chronicles and writings on topics from his homeland, including his birthplace Schluchsee . His last works include two theater plays for amateur actors with up to 300 participants from the city and the surrounding area. The game from the cathedral thematizes the history of the cathedral construction from the foundation to the construction of today's dome . It was premiered on August 25, 1993 in St. Blasien. The piece of land at the cathedral was premiered in 1997. Both pieces founded the St. Blasien Cathedral Festival .
