Bernhard sticker

Bernhard Rudolf Sticker (born August 2, 1906 in Berlin , † August 30, 1977 in Hamburg ) was a German astronomer and science historian .

Sticker was Arnold Kohlschütter's assistant from 1928 to 1945 at the Bonn University Observatory . In 1938 he received his doctorate in Bonn, he completed his habilitation in 1939, and in 1953 he became an adjunct professor in Bonn. In 1955 he completed his habilitation in the history of natural sciences and in 1960 became professor and director of the Institute for the History of Natural Sciences at the University of Hamburg , which was founded on his initiative and that of Hans Schimank (1888–1979) .

Together with Heribert M. Nobis, he was the editor of a critical (Latin) edition of De revolutionibus as part of the Nicolaus Copernicus Complete Edition . For the Encyclopedia of Mathematical Sciences he wrote the article Astronomical Colorimetry with Josef Hopmann .
