Bernhard Wilhelm Rosendahl

Bernhard Wilhelm Rosendahl (* 1804 in Emden , † October 18, 1846 in Berlin ) was a German painter.

Life

Rosendahl was a student of Peter von Cornelius . He specialized in architectural ornament painting and was used in particular by Karl Friedrich Schinkel to decorate buildings designed by him.

Works

  • Charlottenhof Palace , Potsdam: ornamental and figurative paintings and grotesques (in wax colors) on the walls of the portico (back) and at the entrance to the pergola (1833, based on Schinkel's design)
  • St. Nikolai (Potsdam) : Fresco (Christ, apostles and evangelists on a gold background) in the apse of the Nikolaikirche in Potsdam (1834, based on a design by Schinkel)
  • Altes Museum : Etruscan cabinet painting (destroyed, documented by color slides)
  • Johanniskirche (Zittau) : fresco (Evangelist Johannes with angels) in the apse of the church rebuilt by Schinkel (1836)
  • Roman baths (Potsdam) : painting (1839)
  • Neustrelitz Castle Park , ceiling painting in the lifting temple , painting of the orangery (from 1842)
