Bernhard von Schrötter
Bernhard Edler von Schrötter (born August 29, 1772 in Vienna ; † July 4, 1842 there ) was an Austrian portrait painter and lithographer .
Life
Born the son of a lawyer, Schrötter studied from 1791 to 1794 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna . After graduation he worked in the lithographic institute of the history painter Lorenz Herr.
As a freelance artist, he painted portraits and miniatures, a. a. by actors and opera singers Antonie Adamberger , Therese Krones , Wilhelmine Schröder-Devrient , Henriette Sontag and Ferdinand Raimund .
Schrötter also dealt with lithography. He was influenced by the Napoleon Bonaparte court painter Jean-Baptiste Isabey during his stay in Vienna in 1812 and 1814.
He exhibited his works at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in Sankt Annahof .
Bernhard Edler von Schrötter was married to Josepha Freiin von Ruccich and, after her death, to Anna Maria Sauter.
