history

Before the construction of the Canal de Donzère-Mondragon , in the mid-20th century, the Berre ran straight ahead to its confluence with the Rhône. Today this section is regarded as a separate body of water (GKZ V45-0431). It is currently only used for irrigation and drainage of the artificial island between the canal and the river. The small river Petite Berre (GKZ V4570560) , with its related name, also runs here .
