Berrin Sulari

Berrin Sulari (* 1974 in Çayırlı , Erzincan Province ) is a Turkish - Alevi singer.

Her grandfather is the Alevi Aşık (folk song singer) Davut Suları , her aunt is the Alevi singer Edibe Sulari . Berrin Sulari grew up in Çayırlı, a village in Erzincan Province.

As a teenager she took part in a competition for singers at the broadcasting company TRT and achieved 7th place. In Izmir she took Saz lessons at an Alevi association. On May 23, 1992 she took part in a singing competition at the Pir Sultan Abdal Association in Izmir and took third place.

In 1992 she performed in concerts with Musa Eroğlu , Yavuz Top and Arif Sağ . She received four offers for European concerts, which she did not accept. In 1993, her aunt Edibe Sulari was killed in the Sivas arson attack on July 2nd . Edibe Sulari died with 32 other Alevi artists such as Muhlis Akarsu , Nesimi Çimen and Hasret Gültekin . Berrin Sulari then went to London with Arif Sağ and performed in the Hackney Empire Theater. In 1996 she released her first album Göznurum , which she dedicated to her aunt.

Berrin Sulari has appeared on television shows; she takes part in festivals to continue the tradition of the Sulari family.

In 2006 her second album Nerdesin was released.
