Bertold Theodor von Kerckerinck zu Stapel (* January 8, 1640 ; † April 14, 1709 ) was the margravial court master and chamberlain and dean of the cathedral .

Life

Origin and family

Bertold Theodor von Kerckerinck zu Stapel grew up together with his brothers Johann (1627–1700, cathedral vicar, canon in St. Mauritz in Munster), Matthias (1628–1684, officiator in Bruchsal), Heinrich Hermann (1632–1684, canon in Fritzlar) and Wilhelm Lambert (1645–1676, canon in Aschaffenburg and Rittmeister) as the son of Bernhard zu Giesking (* 1596) and his wife Richmod von Buck zu Sentmaring (* 1626) in the Westphalian patrician family von Kerckerinck .

Career and work

Bertold Theodor studied at the Collegium Germanicum in Rome from 1655 to 1661 and became a canon in Osnabrück . He switched to diplomatic service and was court master and chamberlain at the margravial court of Baden . He also held the same functions in the County of Rietberg . Bertold Theodor was court cavalier with the Landgrave of Hesse-Rheinfels until 1680 . It drew him back to his priestly calling. On April 1, 1694 he became cathedral dean in Osnabrück .
