from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The vocational high school (BOS) (z. B. as a way for students with middle school high school , Fachschulreife ) and a completed vocational training the technical college , technical university and university entrance (with the second foreign language ) to acquire in Bavaria since 2008 part of the vocational high school . Since the 2006/2007 school year, points (0 to 15) instead of grades (1 to 6) have been awarded for performance assessments , similar to the college level of the grammar school. In addition to the points achieved, the wording of the corresponding grades is also given in the interim and final certificates.

Classes

Pre-class or BOS 11

The preliminary class serves as preparation for the 12th grade for students who have obtained their intermediate educational qualification through the vocational school or vocational school; whereby pupils who have obtained a middle school leaving certificate through the M-branch of the secondary school or business school or whose secondary school leaving certificate was a long time ago are often admitted.

However, access is also possible for students who do not have a secondary school leaving certificate (secondary school + vocational training without Quabi ). In this case, an entrance examination in mathematics, German and English must be taken at the end of July, which is at the level of the 9th grade secondary school (Bavaria), with no grade lower than 4 and the average being at least 3.7 must (§31 (2) FOBOSO). By successfully attending the preliminary class (no grade lower than 4 or 4 points), these students automatically acquire, i.e. H. without a separate examination, the intermediate educational qualification (intermediate maturity).

The number or the selection of subjects that are taught varies from BOS to BOS or from year to year, depending on the resources and how many teachers are available. The focus is on German, English and mathematics, usually 7 to 10 hours per week.

Preliminary course

The preliminary course is voluntary and is only intended for students who have already had their intermediate level qualification prior to their vocational training (mostly high school students) and want to refresh their knowledge. The preliminary course is part-time (either on Saturdays or in the evenings during the week). The subjects German, mathematics and English are taught. The preliminary course can already be attended in the last year of training so that the student can attend the 12th grade of the BOS immediately after completing their vocational training. The preliminary course is considered passed if you have achieved at least a grade of 4 in each subject.

BOS 12

The 12th grade of the BOS leads to the advanced technical college entrance qualification . Those who have not completed either the preliminary class or the preliminary course with at least a grade 3 in all subjects are subject to a trial period up to December 15th. The probationary period is considered passed if you can show a maximum of a five and not a six in the current grade. If the Fachabitur examination is taken (voluntarily) at the end of the year, the overall grade in the examination subjects is made up of the examination grade and the annual progression grade. In the other subjects, the grade for the next year counts as the overall grade. With a maximum of a five you get the advanced technical college entrance qualification. If the annual progression grades entitle you to advance, but if you fail to take or fail the Fachabitur, you can still attend class 13.

BOS 13

The 13th grade of the BOS leads to the subject-specific higher education entrance qualification . Pupils who would like to advance to the 13th grade must also attend a seminar in which they write a term paper . This relates to a subject or a combination of subjects and is similar to the technical work at the grammar school . The seminar usually takes place after the Fachhochschulreife exams and ends at the beginning of the 13th grade. The processing time is approximately three months. Newcomers to the side have to do the seminar paper without seminar lessons until after the Christmas holidays.

Second foreign language

If the student has already taken an elective subject in a second foreign language in the 12th grade and continues this in the 13th grade or has sufficient knowledge of a second foreign language from the grammar school (at least 4 years, completed with a grade 4 or upper level qualification) or the Realschule (branch IIIF), then the 13th grade leads to the general higher education entrance qualification. The following are recognized as second foreign languages:

  • French
  • Spanish
  • Italian
  • Russian
  • Latin

However, not all foreign languages listed are offered in all BOSn, often only French or Spanish. Otherwise, after successfully passing BOS 13, there is the possibility of demonstrating knowledge of a second foreign language by taking an additional examination. It does not matter how long the (former) student has not been on the BOS.

Proof of a second foreign language can also be provided through a vocational school. For example, a language school with a state examination. (Foreign language correspondent etc.)

In a training course that does not correspond to the previous vocational training, only those who can provide evidence of a relevant occupation for the desired training course or the successful completion of a relevant practical training at the technical college can be accepted; Employment must be one year in the case of full-time employment and a correspondingly longer period in the case of part-time employment. Since August 1, 2011, the relevant professional experience required in this case in addition to the completed vocational training can also be achieved through a relevant full-time professional internship of at least six months. In cases of doubt with regard to vocational training, professional experience and professional activity or their assignment to a training course, the ministerial representative decides .

VIBOS (Virtual Vocational School Bavaria)

In addition to the normal attendance at a vocational high school, there is the possibility of attaining the technical college entrance qualification through the "VIBOS". The Virtual Vocational School Bavaria is a state online course of the Bavarian State Ministry for Education and Culture with its own course regulations. The course is assigned to the department of the ministerial representative for the vocational secondary school (technical secondary schools and vocational secondary schools) in Northern Bavaria at the FOS / BOS Erlangen and is based there. The lessons at VIBOS are based on the concept of "blended learning" and consist of three main elements Components:

  1. Learning content is conveyed via learning modules (SCORM modules) that are permanently available online.
  2. In online lessons via teleconference (Blackboard Collaborate), the teachers and students at VIBOS also discuss the learning modules.
  3. On (almost) monthly seminar days, the learning material is also prepared in face-to-face classes.

All online lessons are handled via the digital learning environment Fronter, a Scandinavian learning platform. The state online VIBOS course was developed with a particular focus on the requirements of professionals who want to gain qualifications alongside their job. Therefore, the lessons were spread over two years in order to keep the demands of the job tolerable. Participation in online sessions and seminar days is voluntary, i. H. In the current year no grades are awarded as in normal schools. For this, however, tasks and feedback on the performance level are regularly offered by the teachers. The grades are obtained from a written exam for each minor and from the written exams for the major subjects, which the “normal” BOS students also take.

For participation in the state VIBOS course, course participants are charged a flat rate as reimbursement of expenses. You can also register if you do not live in Bavaria (travel and accommodation may be necessary during the exams), but the entry requirements (see above) for the BOS must be met. Vibos also only offers the branches of economics, social affairs and technology; religion or ethics is not taught.

Via VIBOS you can attend the preliminary course and the 12th grade (divided into 12 / I and 12 / II).

Differences to the FOS ( technical college )

The main differences between BOS and FOS are:

  • that one may only attend the BOS with secondary school leaving certificate and vocational training or at least five years of professional experience, while the secondary school leaving certificate is sufficient for the FOS; however, practical training must be completed in the 11th grade of the FOS.
  • that in the 12th grade BOS the material of the 11th and 12th grade FOS is taught; In the 13th grade, on the other hand, the FOS / BOS material is largely identical, and the final exams are the same for BOS and FOS in grades 12 and 13.
  • that in the BOS you don't have to take an exam after the 12th grade to get into the 13th grade; At the FOS, on the other hand, the successful examination for obtaining the technical college entrance qualification (in addition to the required technical high school diploma of 3.0) is a basic requirement for entry into the 13th grade.
