Professional Association of Visual Artists Berlin

The Professional Association of Visual Artists Berlin e. V. ( bbk berlin e.V. ) is one of the largest artists' associations in Europe with more than 2000 members . It represents the interests of Berlin's visual artists in public and in relation to politics. It offers its members professional services such as legal advice, tax advice and professional legal protection. At the general meeting on November 30, 2016, a new statute and the name change of the association were decided.

Kulturwerk und Bildungswerk des bbk berlin

Via two subsidiaries, the Kulturwerk and the Bildungswerk, whose sole shareholders are bbk berlin e. V., the bbk berlin, in cooperation with the State of Berlin, organizes structural support measures for all visual artists working in Berlin. As a non-profit limited company, the Kulturwerk is the sponsor of three large artistic workshops, the sculptor workshop, the printing workshop and the media workshop . The cultural work also includes the studio office with Atelierförderung Berlin, which in particular organizes the award of publicly funded studios and studio apartments in Berlin via an advisory board appointed by the Berlin Senate , and the office for art in public spaces . It ensures qualified awards for artistic projects in public building projects.

The education center of bbk berlin, also a non-profit GmbH, offers qualification and further training events for professional artists , supported by the European Social Fund .

The bbk berlin is a registered association, the board of which is elected every two years by a general meeting. It has existed since 1950. Its founders include Richard Scheibe , Karl Schmidt-Rottluff , Renée Sintenis , Hannah Höch and Louise Stomps .
