Besnik Hasi (born December 25, 1971 in Đakovica , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Kosovar Albanian football coach . As a player, he mostly played in midfield, but was also used in central defense.
Career
Hasi started his career in the youth team of KF Vëllaznimi . From 1990 to 1994 he played for various Croatian clubs, including NK Zagreb . In 1994 he moved to KRC Genk . Although he hardly played in Genk at first, he stayed there until 2000 with a one-year break.
In the 1997/98 season he played for TSV 1860 Munich . After returning from Munich, he became an important part of the team that won the Belgian Championship in 1999 and the Cup in 2000.
In 2000 he moved to RSC Anderlecht . In his first season he came to 16 missions due to injury and was Belgian champion with the team. In the following season he played 30 games in the league and five in the Champions League . Because of knee problems, he had to take longer breaks. In the 2005/06 season he only made 14 missions and then moved to SC Lokeren . He ended his professional career at Cercle Bruges in 2007/08.
National team
Hasi made his debut in the Albanian national team in 2000 at the age of 28 and became an integral part of the team under coach Hans-Peter Briegel . He was also in the team that defeated the then European champions Greece 2-1 in September 2004 . Until 2007 he was part of the national team.
Trainer
After his active career, Hasi was appointed to the coaching staff of RSC Anderlecht and from then on he was assistant coach under Ariël Jacobs . In March 2014, then head coach John van den Brom was dismissed and Hasi was promoted to head coach. At the end of the 2013/14 season he won the Belgian championship with the team.
For the 2016/17 season he moved to Poland to master Legia Warsaw . On September 20, 2016, the club separated from him.
In the summer of 2017 Hasi was appointed the new coach of the Greek serial champion Olympiacos Piraeus . After a bad start in the league, he was released on September 25, 2017.
Hasi has been the coach of the Saudi Arabian first division club al-Raed since July 26, 2018 . In his first season he landed with the team in 8th place and reached the round of 16 in the national cup .
