Beta 1 Capricorni1 Cap) is the lighter component of the visual binary star Beta Capricorni in the constellation Capricorn . It has an apparent magnitude of 3.2 mag and its distance is approximately 330 light years .

Beta 1 Capricorni is a multiple system of four single stars. The main star is an orange-colored bright giant with almost four times the mass, 31 times the diameter and 500 times the luminosity of the sun . It and a somewhat heavier white main sequence star of over four times the mass, 1.3 times the diameter and 20 times the luminosity of the sun orbit each other in 3.8 years. The white star is also a close spectroscopic binary star itself. The third component orbits it in just 8.7 days, otherwise no further details are known about it. Yet another star, about five times the luminosity of the Sun, about which little is known, stands a short distance from the orange giant.

Beta 1 is together with the star Beta 2 Capricorni also with the proper name " Dabih " (from Arabic سعد الذابح, DMG saʿd aḏ-ḏābiḥ  'luck (star) of the slaughterer'). To distinguish it from this, it is also called " Dabih Major ". According to the “IAU Catalog of Star Names” of the Working Group on Star Names (WGSN) of the IAU for the standardization of star names, the name in the form “Dabih” was only assigned to the lighter Beta 1 Capricorni in 2016 .
