SeSiSo Club
The SeSiSo Club was a cultural and political discussion group in Germany in the 1920s, whose members can be assigned to the most diverse political directions. It existed from January 2, 1922 until the 1930s.
In the spirit of the Enlightenment and humanism, he made it his business to hold events in the Berlin Hotel Kaiserhof with up to 400, mostly prominent guests, thereby enabling an exchange of views on issues of the time.
The name of the "club" (unofficially, the SeSiSo-Club was never entered in the register of associations and there was also no membership) was derived from the names of its chairmen Hans von Seeckt , Walter Simons and Wilhelm Solf .
Regular guests at the club's events included:
- Albrecht Count von Bernstorff
- Richard Nikolaus Count of Coudenhove-Kalergi
- Kurt von Hammerstein-Equord
- Ernst von Harnack
- Otto Hoetzsch
- Paul Kempner (partner in the Mendelssohn & Co. )
- Harry Graf Kessler
- Richard Kuenzer
- Bernhard Lichtenberg
- Paul Graf Wolff Metternich to the canal
- Sir Horace Rumbold (British Ambassador in Berlin)
- Friedrich Sarre
- Albrecht Schaeffer
- Wilhelm Staehle
- Emil Georg von Stauß
- Adam von Trott zu Solz
- Hannah von Wangenheim
- Arthur Zarden
Even if the meetings of the SeSiSo-Club mostly had no political influence, its members were members of various resistance groups during the Nazi era , such as the Solf-Kreis , whose members were close to the SeSiSo-Club or the German Society in 1914 .
Bethmann food
Once a year, on November 29th , the birthday of Chancellor Theobald von Bethmann Hollweg , the so-called Bethmann-Essen , a gala organized by the club with prominent guests, took place. In memory of the liberal Bethmann Hollweg, people met for an intellectual conversation. The first Bethmann dinner took place on November 29, 1921, and Walther Rathenau and Kurt von Hammerstein-Equord honored Seeckt, Simons and Solf with their visit.
