Betty Box
Betty Evelyn Box , also Betty E. Box (born September 25, 1915 in Beckenham, Kent , Great Britain , † January 15, 1999 in Chiltern ) was a British film producer .
Live and act
Betty Box began her professional career in the 1930s as an advertising artist. She joined the domestic film industry through her older brother, producer Sydney Box , and worked as his assistant on over 200 short propaganda films during World War II . It was commissioned by the government and the army.
In 1946, Betty Box began her career making feature films for Gainsborough Pictures , starting with an unnamed executive director of The Years In Between . Their production range includes films from virtually all popular genres: comedies, dramas, crime and adventure films. When she moved to Pinewood Studios in 1950, she produced almost all of the productions by comedy specialist Ralph Thomas , including the seven productions in the Doctoral film series .
Until her death, Betty Box was married to the film producer Peter Rogers for a good 50 years . Her sister-in-law was the film director and screenwriter Muriel Box .
