Betty Dittrich , born Emma Elisabeth Dittrich (* 1984 near Malmö ), also known as Emma Elisabeth , is a Swedish pop singer and songwriter .
Life and musical career
Dittrich's father was born in Germany and moved to Sweden when he was one year old. Her grandmother lived in Germany during Dittrich's childhood. Her parents were also active as musicians in the 1960s.
In her youth, Dittrich learned to play various musical instruments. At the age of 16, she began studying music at Sundsgymnasiet in Vellinge . This was followed by professional training as a singer and guitarist at Kulturama , Scandinavia's leading college for artistic courses. As an exchange student, she visited Germany for half a year, was given the opportunity to record a demo recording in German with other songwriters , was positively surprised by the result and stayed with German-language texts.
Dittrich moved to Stockholm in 2004 , where she founded the pop band Shebang together with Marina Ljung , with whom she achieved some successes in Scandinavia and Japan until they broke up in 2008 . In 2009 she went on a club tour through Sweden and Denmark as a solo artist . She has lived in Berlin since the beginning of 2011 . According to their own assessment, their music is influenced by the post- rock 'n' roll and pop era of the 1960s and 1970s. Although the German language is not their mother tongue , around 60 music titles with German lyrics have been created over the years. Under contract with EMI Music , she worked on her first album in early 2013, which was released on February 22, 2013 under the title Gute Jungs, Bad Mädchen .
On February 15, 2013, her title LaLaLa was published, with which she had participated the day before in Hanover in Unser Song für Malmö , the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in her hometown of Malmö . The title, which had its television premiere on January 28, 2013, was composed by her in collaboration with Andreas John .
In September 2014 Betty Dittrich announced that she would start a new music project called Qveen Elizabeth .
In March 2016, her album Cover Stories was released , which only contains English-language cover versions.
She has been performing under her first name Emma Elisabeth since 2017 .
