Trisa Laughlin (born March 14, 1969 in Muskegon , Michigan as Trisa Hayes ), better known by her ring name Beulah McGillicutty , is a former American wrestling manager and wrestler and children's book author . She is generally considered to be one of the first so-called divas , as the new generation of women in wrestling are called today. With them, the main focus is less on the sporting side than much more on the visual and acting side. She became known to a wider audience during her time in Extreme Championship Wrestling in the late 1990s.

Personal

Laughlin re-enrolled in college after leaving ECW in 1998 . In October 2002 she married her long-time partner Thomas Laughlin (ring name Tommy Dreamer ), to whom she gave birth to two daughters, Brianna and Kimberly. In 2012 she published Gertrude the Great , her first children's book. Ex-wrestler Mick Foley had put her in touch with illustrator Jill Thompson .

Professional wrestling career

Stampede Wrestling (1988)

As the “sister” of her then partner Brian Pillman , Laughlin sat in the audience and was “saved” after an “attack” by Pillman heels . It was her first contact with the sport.

Extreme Championship Wrestling (1995-1998)

A few years later, Laughlin was active as a background dancer for the musician Prince and met the then professional baseball player Ron Gant , who in turn introduced her to the wrestler Raven . He introduced her to Paul Heyman , the then owner of ECW, who signed her as a valet in 1995 . There she was involved as Beulah McGillicutty in a storyline about the already known Raven and Tommy Dreamer, who feuded with each other for a longer period of time . According to the story, Raven and Dreamer, former school friends, would have visited a summer camp when they were young, and Beulah would also have been present. The young girl would have suffered from obesity, fell in love with Dreamer, but would have been rejected by him and would have turned to Raven. Raven's assistant Stevie Richards would have brought the now slim and handsome Beulah to ECW to get revenge on Dreamer. As a valet ravens, she had to take several piledrivers during the feud .

McGillicutty fought various catfights with both Luna Vachon and Francine , but also competed in the ring specifically against Francine. In early 1996, Beulah announced that she was pregnant with Dreamer and then joined him, which further intensified the feud. A little later, Shane Douglas claimed that Beulah had never been pregnant and had now cheated on Dreamer too. Raven's new manager, Kimona Wanalaya , admitted to being the culprit, wrestled Beulah on the ring floor and kissed her. With the words "I'll take em both, I'm hardcore!" Tommy Dreamer took possession of a woman from his opponent's circle again.

In 1997 McGillicutty got back into the ring and completed tag team matches with Dreamer and a bloody fight against Bill Alfonso, who was very unpopular with the audience . In 1998 she suffered a "broken neck" after the Dudley Boyz attacked her with a Dudley Death Drop to bid farewell to ECW.

Sporadic appearances (2005-2014)

At the WWE- hosted ECW One Night Stand , McGillicutty helped her husband Dreamer and The Sandman in their match against the Dudley Boyz and catfighted Francine.

A year later, she got into the ring with Dreamer and Terry Funk against Lita , Edge and Mick Foley at WWE; their day team lost.

In August 2010, Beulah and her daughters were guests of Hardcore Justice , a PPV of the TNA promotion , but then intervened in a fight between Dreamer and Raven when she kicked Raven between the legs.
