The Beurer GmbH is a medium-sized serving family owned company based in Ulm, the electrical appliances for health and well-being. The company produced the first electric blankets and pillows in Germany in 1919, which it specialized in until the mid-1980s.
history
The company was founded in Ulm in 1919 by Käthe and Eugen Beurer. The main products at that time were heating pads. After the Second World War, the couple and their son Bernhard Beurer made a new start. In 1952, heated mattresses were introduced. In 1987, as part of the diversification under the managing director Dieter Bühler, an expansion of the "Health and Wellbeing" range took place. After major losses in the export business, the Beurer Hungaria Kft production plant was established in Hungary in 1992 and the last non-automatable production areas were relocated there in 2001. Beurer has offered a full range of scales since 2002. The “Beauty and Fitness” product range was launched in 2005. The British company Winterwarm Holding Ltd, Birmingham, which was taken over in 1999 and which, with sales of DM 18 million and a 30% market share, was one of the leading suppliers of heating pads and blankets in Great Britain, was given up in 2005. In 2007, the product range was expanded to include blood glucose meters and the “Beurer medical” product line was launched. In 2008 the company changed from a GmbH & Co. KG to a GmbH. In 2010 Beurer added a baby care collection to its range. This includes baby monitors, baby scales, thermometers, breast pumps, baby food warmers and steam sterilizers. Beurer has been selling hair care products under the “ Udo Walz by Beurer” brand since 2011 . The beauty segment has been expanded since 2012. A full range of beauty devices is now available. This includes u. a. Hair removal products, manicure / pedicure equipment, and facial care products. In 2013, the range was expanded to include products from the Connect area. Networked products from the areas of “weight”, “activity”, “blood pressure”, “blood sugar” and “sleep” can be used together with the Beurer HealthManager, a health monitoring system. Since then, the range of networked products has been steadily expanded and further apps have been added. The following apps are now available: Beurer HealthManager, Beurer MyIPL, Beurer CareCam, Beurer BodyShape, Beurer SleepExpert, Beurer FreshRoom, Beurer SleepQuiet, Beurer LightUp and Beurer recipe scales. In 2016, Beurer developed the SleepLine, a product line for everything to do with sleep. In addition to a sleep sensor, this includes a snore stopper as well as an air humidifier, a hygrometer and an air purifier.
