The Beyl Head is a frozen headland on the east side of Wright Iceland before Bakutis Coast of the West Antarctic Marie Byrd lands . It extends into the Getz Ice Shelf .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the Cape in 1977 after Commander David D. Beyl of the United States Navy , officer in charge of the repair program for Lockheed C-130 aircraft during Operation Deep Freeze in 1976.
