The district of Waschkoutz am Czeremosch ( Romanian Văşcăuţ lângă Ceremuş ; Ruthenian : Waszkiwci nad Czeremoszem ) was a political district in the Duchy of Bukovina . The district comprised areas in the north of Bukovina, northwest of Chernivtsi . The municipality of Waschkoutz am Czeremosch was the seat of the district administration . The area was added to Romania after the First World War and is now part of the Ukrainian part of Bukovina ( Chernivtsi Oblast ).

The modern, political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created in 1868 when the political and judicial administration was separated. The area of ​​the later district of Waschkoutz belonged from 1868 to the districts of Wiznitz and Storozynetz . The judicial district Stanestie was finally separated from the district Storozynetz on October 1, 1903 and merged with the judicial district Waschkoutz am Czeremosch from the district Wiznitz to the district Waschkoutz am Czeremosch.

Field Marshal Lieutenant Joseph von Cavallar , Imperial envoy and agent for the purchase of horses for the Austrian Court War Council, worked here for many years .
