Radautz district
The Radautz district ( Romanian : Rădăuț ; Ruthenian : Radiwci ) was a political district in the Duchy of Bukovina . The district included areas in the east of Bukovina. The seat of the district administration was the city of Radautz ( Rădăuți ). The area was added to Romania after the First World War and is now part of the Romanian part of the Bukovina in northern Romania ( Suceava district ).
history
The modern, political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created around 1868 in the course of the separation of the political from the judicial administration. The Radautz district was formed in 1868 from the Radautz and Solka ( Solca ) judicial districts . In 1886, the establishment of a further judicial district was determined, for which three municipalities of the judicial district Radautz were merged to form the judicial district Seletin . The ordinance came into effect on June 1, 1888. On October 1, 1893, the Solka judicial district was detached from the Radautz district and combined with the Gurahumora judicial district to form the Gurahumora district , whereupon the Radautz district again consisted of two judicial districts.
In 1869 there were 73,601 people in the Radautz district; by 1900 the population had increased to 82,152. In 1900, 47,919 of the population stated Romanian (58.3%) as a colloquial language, 21,493 people spoke German (26.2%), 8,864 Ruthenian (10.8%) and 3,326 another language (4.0%). In 1900 the district covered an area of 184.097 km² as well as two judicial districts with 28 communities and five manor areas .
