Vladislavas Domarkas

Vladislavas Domarkas (born August 17, 1939 in Vėlaičiai near Kretinga ; † February 29, 2016 ) was a Lithuanian radio engineer, rector and politician .

Life

From 1945 to 1956 Domarkas studied at the Kartena Middle School and in 1961 completed his diploma studies at the Technical Institute Kaunas (KPI), the current Technical University of Kaunas , where he taught from 1967 and received his doctorate in 1978. Domarkas was a lecturer from 1969 and Vice-Rector from 1980 to 1983. From 1983 to 1992 he headed the KPI as rector. From 1981 he taught as a professor . From 1993 to 1994 he was Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs , from 1994 to 1996 Minister of Education of Lithuania .

From 1971 Domarkas was a member of the CPSU , from 1985 to 1990 a member of the Supreme Soviet of the LSSR , and in 1989 a member of the Council Presidium.

Domarkas was a member of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences .

family

Domarkas was married. His daughter is Evelina Meilienė, head of the TU center for development projects and lecturer at the management chair. His son is Andrius Domarkas.
