Bialaphos ( L -alanyl- L -alanyl-phosphinothricin) is a natural tripeptide consisting of the amino acids alanine and glufosinate . Bialaphos was isolated as the product of two different soil-dwelling streptomycetes ( Streptomyces hygroscopicus and Streptomyces viridochromogenes ). Bialaphos has herbicidal properties that go back to the biologically active phosphinothricin group.
