Vanzetta made her debut in Nové Město in January 1986 in the cross-country skiing world cup and finished 14th in the 20 km freestyle. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1987 in Oberstdorf , she achieved 20th place over 20 km freestyle and over 5 km classic and fifth place with the relay. At her first Olympic participation in 1988 in Calgary she came in 17th place over 10 km classic. The following year she won the 30 km run from Toblach to Cortina . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1991 in Val di Fiemme , she won the silver medal with the relay and achieved 12th place over 5 km classic. The following year she won the bronze medal with the relay at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville . In addition, she finished 28th over 5 km classic and 20th place in the following pursuit race. Her best World Cup season was in 1992/93. At the beginning of the season, she achieved her first top ten placement in the individual World Cup with tenth place over 15 km freestyle in Val di Fiemme . This was followed in Cogne with eighth place over 10 km freestyle, her best individual result in the World Cup. At the season highlight of the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1993 in Falun , she again won the silver medal with the relay. Her best individual result at this World Cup was 22nd place over 5 km classic. She finished the season in 24th place in the overall World Cup. In her last active season, she made it into the points twice in the World Cup and finished 43rd in the overall World Cup. At the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer , she won the bronze medal with the relay. In addition, she won 34th place in the pursuit and 19th place over 5 km classic. Her brother Giorgio was also a cross-country skier.
