Bee market

The bee market in Michelstadt is the second largest folk festival in the Odenwald district after the Erbacher Wiesenmarkt .

The festival was initiated in 1955 by the mayor of Michelstädter at the time , Erwin Hasenzahl . It takes place annually at Whitsun on Bundesstraße 45 . It starts on the Friday before Pentecost Sunday and lasts ten days. During the ten days of the festival, visitors are offered a supporting program in addition to many showmen , rides and restaurants: bike races , city ​​runs , large fireworks , bees auction and flower parade are just a few of the points.

Since the year 2000, the event radio Radio B46 has also broadcast a radio program on the bee market for 10 days.

For several years now, the bee market has also been popularly known as Pitschefescht in the Odenwald dialect . This term translates as "puddle festival" and was created by the almost always bad weather in recent years.
