Wayside shrine (Kronach, Rathausparkplatz)
The shrine on the northeast side of the City Hall parking lot is as a monument protected small monument in the Upper Franconian town of Kronach , which was created in the 18th century.
The wayside shrine made of sandstone stands on a square base plate. A concave-convex shaped base rests on top of it, on the west side of which there is a cartridge , which however does not contain any inscriptions. A tapering shaft with a square plan rises above the base . The south side of the shaft is decorated with acanthus tendrils, the east and west sides are framed, the north side is smooth. The four-sided attachment of the wayside shrine rests on a protruding capital , which is closed off by retracted segmental arches . There are reliefs on the four sides of the top : the north side shows the coronation of Mary , the east side the fourteen helpers with the baby Jesus , on the south side Saint Anthony of Padua is depicted and on the west side Saint George . Originally, the top still had a crown, probably a stone ball.
