Bile ( Ukrainian Біле ; Russian Белое Beloje ) is a settlement on Snake Island in the Black Sea with about 50 inhabitants (2015).
Bile is located in the Kilija district of the Ukrainian Odessa Oblast on the 41 m high Snake Island, about 37 km off the Danube Delta , with an area of 20.5 hectares . There is a hotel, a bank, a shop and a post office in the village.
history
The commercial and residential complex on Snake Island was granted settlement status on February 8, 2007. Since April 13, 2007, the settlement belongs administratively to the municipality of the city of Wylkowe on the west of the mainland . The establishment of the town led to a sharp reaction from the Romanian Foreign Ministry after the Snake Island was ceded by Romania to the then Soviet Union in 1948 .
