Bill Shuster

William "Bill" Shuster (born January 10, 1961 in McKeesport , Pennsylvania ) is an American politician . Since 2001 he has represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Bill Shuster is the son of former Congressman Bud Shuster . He attended Everett High School and then studied until 1983 at Dickinson College in Carlisle and then at American University in Washington, DC At the time, he was a car dealer and representative of a tire company. Politically, like his father, he became a member of the Republican Party .

After his father's resignation as a member of Parliament, Bill Shuster was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, where he took up his new mandate on May 15, 2001, in the by-election for the ninth seat of Pennsylvania. As he was re-elected in all subsequent elections, including the one in 2016, he can continue to exercise his mandate today. His latest legislative term runs until January 3, 2019. His previous time as a congressman included the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 , the Iraq war and the military operation in Afghanistan . Shuster is or was a member of the Armed Forces Committee and chairman of the Committee on Transport and Infrastructure and a total of four sub-committees. He is also a member of several Congressional Caucuses . Among other things, he advocates stronger border controls with the help of the National Guard to make illegal immigration to the United States more difficult.

Shuster is married and lives privately in Hollidaysburg .
