history
The city was named after a family who lived in beer. A post office was opened in 1884.

US Highway 82 and Alabama State Route 6 run about 3 kilometers southeast of the city . Interstate 65 runs 18 kilometers east of the city and runs for 1,436 kilometers from Alabama to Indiana . One kilometer further east is the route of US Highway 31 .
