Billy Gibson (born 20th century in Camden , Tennessee ) is an American harmonica player.
Life
Billy Gibson grew up in Clinton , Mississippi and began playing the harmonica at a young age. "It was cheap and I could easily make sounds with it," he said. His desire to improve musically led him to move to Clarksdale , Mississippi, where he played with guitarist Johnnie Billington in his band The Midnighters . From there he went to Memphis . "Beale Street was my blues university," he remembers. In 1998 he was part of the short-lived southern rock band Junkyardmen, who recorded an album for Inside Memphis in 1998.
His talent did not go unnoticed, he received an endorsement deal from Hohner in 1999 . His services as an accompanist are popular with Deborah Coleman ( Soft Place to Fall Blind Pig , 2000) and Michael Burks ( I Smell Smoke , 2003). With the guitarist of his band, David Bowen, he also appears as the duo The Delta Cats.
As a music producer he took care of the production of Jason Ricci's first two albums and as a sound engineer he worked on the Seal album Human Being (1998).
Billy Gibson also has a bachelor's degree in music from the University of Memphis .
