Billy the Cat is a Franco-Belgian comic and a British animated series based on it . The focus is on the boy Billy, who is turned into a cat as a punishment for his malice towards animals and experiences adventures with animals.
content
Billy was turned into a cat because of his malice towards animals, in order to experience for himself the torment of animals. He had to adjust to his changed situation in order to find friends again. Billy lives as a cat with the tomcat Sir Hubert in the junkyard and comes into contact with other animals, mainly cats and dogs. Billy as a cat can no longer live with his family because his mother is allergic to cat hair and the family dog Gonzo doesn't like cats. Together with the animals, Billy experiences various adventures as a cat. The experiences from the past life help Billy to free himself from awkward situations again and again.
Differences between book and cartoon series
Contents of the book: Billy is a young student who tortures animals. One day when Billy ran into the street, he was run over. He goes to heaven and is sent back to earth as a cat to repent for his misdeeds. Only then is he allowed to return to heaven.
Content of the television series: Billy, who abuses animals with his friends, one day attracts the attention of the magician Ali Kazam. He says to stop torturing animals, whereupon Billy mocks the wizard. As a result, the wizard turns him into a cat to teach him a lesson. He later transforms the wizard's cat into a boy, whom Billy is meanwhile representing with his family.
characters
The main character of the series is the young, black and yellow tabby tomcat Billy the Cat . He lives with the old cat Sir Hubert in an old Cadillac in the municipal junkyard. But Billy retains various human characteristics even after his transformation into a cat. In contrast to the other cats, he refuses to eat spoiled food and eats things that are not typical for cats, such as French fries or bananas . Furthermore, he retains the ability to read and knows with technical devices, such as. B. to deal with computers. In addition, he is not afraid of water.
Besides them, the young cat Queenie and the pigeon Jumbo play an essential role. Besides them, there are a number of other cats who appear as minor characters. They include Blacky , Teddy, and Manx . Together with Billy the Cat and Sir Hubert they form a gang. Next to them there are the very young cats Daisy , Crazy and Lasiy , who are friends with them. The fat, old cat Lucifer ("Fettkloß") does not belong to any of the groups and is usually in a bad mood and mean to others.
As an opponent to them, the killing oils appear, whose members are the dogs Brutus , drool and bloodsuckers . Another group of dogs are the cream puffs . They consist of Milli , Fetzer , Roy , the bitch Regina and the crazy dog Loud . The dog Gonzo , whose owner Billy was when he was still human, is a loner.
