Biniam Ghirmay Hailu (born April 2, 2000 ) is an Eritrean cyclist .

Athletic career

In 2018, Biniam Ghirmay was three-time Junior Africa Champion in road racing, in the individual time trial and in the team time trial . In the same year that he drove for the Center Mondial du Cyclisme team , he won the first stage of the Aubel-Thimister-Stavelot junior race in Belgium , ahead of two-time U23 European champion Remco Evenepoel . At the GP Rüebliland in Switzerland , he finished second. In September he started at the UCI Road World Championships 2018 in Innsbruck , finished 13th in the junior road race and 15th place in the time trial. At the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires , he finished 14th in the road race.

In his first international competition in the adult area, the stage race of the first UCI category La Tropicale Amissa Bongo 2019 in Gabon , Ghirmay won the third stage for the Eritrean national team against the competition of European professional continental teams in the mass sprint.
